There are a variety of ways people volunteer at Corbenic including full-time live-in volunteers, part-time volunteers, corporate volunteers, and through a befriending scheme. Regardless of the type of volunteering, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have benefited from thousands of volunteers over the years who have poured their energy, positivity, creativity and time into the community and helped it become what it is today.

I like being a volunteer in Corbenic because I can learn a lot of things different. It’s really different than my job in Brazil and I have free time for the creative jobs and to go on outings.

I came to volunteer at Corbenic from Germany and I love it here. Participating in the daily workshops, I not only learn new skills but also get meet and engage with residents from the other houses. I get so much confidence in myself from the work I do here, and it also brings me so much joy to support the residents and help them be more independent.

The most rewarding thing was helping others, and the stunning scenery at Corbenic. It was amazing seeing the UK. I feel like my contributions have made a meaningful difference to the residents. After spending a year with them, they asked me ‘do I really have to go home?’!
